Amber Anbey-Bass, the CEO of the Jesus Center, expressed her excitement about the event. "This is definitely our biggest since the Camp Fire and since COVID. We're really pleased to see so many people come together to support our work," she said.During the 'Run for Food' 5K, participants not only run for their own health but also to support the essential work of the Jesus Center. The funds raised through the event go towards providing food, shelter, and support to those who are struggling. It's a tangible way for the community to make a difference and show their gratitude for the services provided by the center.

Each year, at the 5K, friends, families, and neighbors come together with warm hugs and bright smiles. They express their heartfelt gratitude for the many gifts life has bestowed upon them. This sense of gratitude is palpable as runners share their thoughts on what they are thankful for.One Chico family said, "We're thankful for our big family in Chico and other places. We're grateful for our family and friends and the support we've received from everyone. We're happy, healthy, and able to run this race." Another family added, "We're thankful for our dog and that our family was able to drive up to see us. These are the little things that make life special."

Leaders of the event describe the annual gathering as a beautiful celebration of community and appreciation. It embodies the spirit of the holiday season and shows that even in difficult times, there is always something to be grateful for.Anbey-Bass became emotional when sharing the many things she is thankful for. "I'm always thankful for my family, and second to that, thankful for this community. I'm thankful for the trust they put in the Jesus Center. Thankful to God that he has put me in this position to be able to help so many people," she said.The 'Run for Food' 5K is more than just a race; it's a reminder of the importance of community and gratitude.
